Some other preventative measures are to maintain proper posture, wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes and sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize any curvature in your spine. It is always good to remember to lift with your knees, do not twist when lifting and keep objects close to your body.
Another lifestyle to avoid is smoking which impairs blood flow resulting in oxygen and nutrient deprivation to spinal tissues. By working with your doctor or chiropractor is the best way to ensure your working space is ergonomically correct. While nothing is fool-proof, these are helpful ways to prevent yourself from becoming the next statistic.

Patients from throughout Los Angeles have access to expert chiropractic care for neck pain with Dr. Brigitte Rozenberg at the The Spine & Disc Center, located in Culver City and Van Nuys, California.
The neck’s susceptibility to injury is due in part to biomechanics. Activities and events that affect cervical biomechanics include extended sitting, repetitive movement, accidents, falls and blows to the body or head, normal aging, and everyday wear and tear. Neck pain can be very bothersome, and it can have a variety of causes.
A neck adjustment (also known as cervical manipulation) is a precise procedure where pressure is applied to the joints of the neck, usually by hand. A neck adjustment works to improve the mobility of the spine and to restore range of motion. Patients typically notice an improved ability to turn and tilt the head as well as a reduction of pain, soreness and stiffness.
Our team here at The Spine & Disc Center will develop a program of care that may combine more than one type of treatment depending on your personal needs. In addition to manipulation, the treatment plan may also include mobilization, massage or rehabilitative exercises.

Patients with migraine problems also typically have neck pain issues, a family history of migraines, and nasal congestion. Since migraines are not fun for anyone, it is no wonder so many people look for relief.
Chiropractic treatment has helped so many people get rid of their migraines, even for good! Prior to treatment, our educated and compassionate chiropractor will also take you through a physical exam to ensure that there are no other reasons behind your pain. After this, we start by trying sensitive trigger points in your lower neck and upper back muscles. By stimulating these areas, the migraine symptoms will actually start to go away.
The success of this and the severity of your pain will determine what further treatment will be required. We will also go over your sleep patterns and overall health. Sometimes this plays a role in your migraine problems.

Herniated Disc / Bulging Disc
A herniated disc, also known as a slipped disc, is one of the most common conditions to affect the spine. While it can occur anywhere along your spine, it most frequently occurs in the neck or lower back. Discs are essentially small cushions that sit between each of the vertebrae in your spine. When a disc herniates or slips, the disc ruptures, allowing the nerve center to move and become pinched between the vertebrae.
You may have a herniated disc if you’re experiencing back pain, numbness or a tingling sensation in either of your arms or legs or even shooting pains when you make sudden movements, like coughing or sneezing.
Before our chiropractor can prescribe the best treatment, additional medical tests may be necessary to better diagnose the severity of your slipped disc. These tests can include x-rays, MRIs or cat scans, and are all non-invasive but will help our chiropractor to correctly identify and treat your disc herniation.
